Wallace Ralph Johnson, 84, of Hardy, passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2016, after a courageous battle with lung disease. He was born November 25, 1931 to the late George Cephas and Letha Ferguson Johnson and was preceded in death by his brother, Carlos Ray Johnson, of Roanoke. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1950 and then served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He was an auto mechanic for 13 years and then worked for Appalachian Power Company in the Hydro Department retiring with 33 years of service. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Lois Thomas Johnson; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Natalie Johnson, and daughter, Cindy Wice, four grandchildren, Jana and Michael Keen, Cara Johnson, Eric Wice, and Sally Wice; two great-grandsons; Elijah and Soloman Keen. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel, 11:00 a.m. Monday with Rev. Jeff Richards officiating. Interment will follow in the Cedar Lawn Burial Park, Roanoke. His family will receive friends 4-6 p.m. Sunday at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
