Walter A. Hood

Walter Alexander “Alex” Hood, age 70 of Rocky Mount died Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at his home. He was born October 5, 1940 a son of the late Jack and Mary Hodges Hood. He was also preceded in death by his granny, Bell Hodges; brother, Thomas “Dede” Hood; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Willie and Maude Hodges; great-grandson, Thomas Alexander Berg. Surviving are his wife, Betty Hall Hood; children, Jimmy and Tammy Hodges, Barry Hood, Bobby Hood, Billy and Shirley Hood, Rickey and Bonnie Altice, Angela Dudley and Ricky Dudley; grandchildren, Darrell Hodges, Crystal Hannabass and Will, Scott Cundiff, Buck Dudley, Brandon Altice and Kristen, Otis Dudley, Caleb Hood; great-grandchildren, Nichole Berg and Zoe Berg; sister, Barbara Torrey; special sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Peggy and Gilbert Hodges; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Betty Lou Hood, Nancy Hall, Frances and Eugene Ayers, Gracie Cundiff, Ellen McGhee; and old time special friends, Ronnie Tyree and David Hodges. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 2 p.m. Friday with Pastor Ronald Coleman officiating. Interment will follow in the Hall Family Cemetery. His family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
