Wesley D. Rorrer

Wesley D. Rorrer of Rocky Mount was born on December 15, 1952 to Louise Rorrer Mabry and Raymond Taylor Rorrer. He died at his residence on Wednesday, July 10, 2013. Wesley was an avid traditional machinist who enjoyed working with industries to design, machine, fabricate and troubleshoot production equipment. He was employed most recently at PlyGem in Rocky Mount and previously spent ten years as the owner and operator of his business, Appalachian Machine in Rocky Mount. He was also employed at NewBold and Sara Lee Corporation earlier in his career. He thoroughly enjoyed vintage-antique trucks. Wesley graduated summa cum laude from Patrick Henry Community College in Martinsville, VA with multiple certifications. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Elaine Killen Rorrer; his mother, Louise Rorrer Mabry; twin brother, Lesley D. Rorrer; and sisters, Kathy Rorrer Carroll and Emily Rorrer; mother and father-in-law, Ray and Viola Blevins; and brothers-in-law, Gary Killen and Steve Heaton. Also surviving are four nephews and one niece. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Rorrer; and two nephews. Wesley leaves behind eight great-nephews and three great-nieces; three aunts and a host of wonderful cousins, in-laws, close friends and colleagues. A Celebration of Life will be held from 2-3 p.m. Saturday at the Pigg River Community Center, 2410 South Main Street, Rocky Mount. In honor and memory of Wesley, family and friends attending the celebration are encouraged to dress casual. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a favorite charity.
