Wilfred Lee Hicks

Wilfred Lee Hicks, 80 of Callaway, Va. born July 17, 1929. Wilfred went to be with the Lord on September 14, 2009. During his life he was best known as the “Apple Man” working up to his last days at Sunny Heights Orchards. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He brought laughter and happiness to those who met him. He was preceded in death by his parents Grady and Annie Hicks and brothers Marvin, John and Charlie Hicks. Survived by his wife of 62 years Ruby Hicks and children; David and Betty Hicks, Carl Hicks and Connie Huffman, Richard and Pam Hicks, Roger and Polly Hicks, William and Elaine Hicks, Wilford Lee Hicks, Jr., Helen and Wayne Angell, Harold and Katherine Hicks, Shirley Hicks and Billy Powell, Ronnie and Linda Hicks, also surviving by 21 Grandchildren and step grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 5 step great grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law Jean and Junior Jordan, Gracie and James Wright, Barbara and Doug Campbell, Joyce Yopp, Nina Hicks and Don Gordon, Essey and Ray Morris; brothers and sisters-in-law Jerry Hicks, Robert and Ethel Hicks and Rufus and Frances Hicks; and his beagle’s Buck, Roxy, Trixy. Funeral service will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 1:00 p.m. Thursday with Rev. J. Willard Bowman officiating. Interment will follow in Monte Vista Church Cemetery.
