Wilfred Jacob Simmons

Wilfred Jacob Simmons passed away on his 89th birthday, Sunday, September 25, 2022 at home in Hardy, VA. He was born September 25, 1933 to David and Julia Simmons. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary in 2015. Wilfred was the youngest of eleven children. He was predeceased by his brothers and sisters and their spouses, Floyd, Juluis, Blanton, Leonard, John and Curtis, Elsie Clark, Edith Clark, Virginia Noel, and Hattie Forgie. Wilfred is survived by his stepchildren; Linda Donohoe, Michael (Kathy) Simmons, Marie Simmons, Jean Bayer, Henry (Beth) Simmons, David (Beth) Simmons, Bonnie Hodges, Carl (Pam) Simmons, Vera (Daryl) Johnson, 21 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and extended family including; sister-in-law, Geraldine Price, Shirley Witcher, Leevene Witcher. Wilfred loved animals, nature, and all related to God’s creation. He is fondly remembered as a special, one of a kind-gentleman. Funeral services will be conducted at Oak Hill Old German Baptist Brethren Church, (101 Elam Lane, Boones Mill, VA, 24065) 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 28, 2022 with the Home Brethren officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. His family will receive friends Tuesday at the church 3-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. and requests flowers be omitted and any donations made to charity of their choice.
