William Talmage Adkins, age 93 of Snow Creek went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 22, 2017 and is now resting in the arms of Jesus. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann English Adkins; parents, Willie and Mattie Doyle Adkins; and brother, Raymond Adkins. Surviving are his children, Bonnie Belcher, Betty Hodges (David), Vickie Prillaman (Ricky); grandchildren, Cheryl Grindstaff (Todd), Tracy Wilkerson (Scott), P.O. Belcher, Jr. (Gena), Eric Prillaman (Tonya); seven great-grandchildren; and sisters, Janie Lee Bowles, Maxine Gibson, Shirley Adkins, Nancy Hutchinson. Mr. Adkins was a member and Deacon at Forrest Hill Christian Church. He worked many years at Continental Can Company and enjoyed farming. He was also a United States Army Veteran of World War II and member of VFW Post 10840. Mr. Adkins also served on the Board of the Snow Creek Rescue Squad. Funeral services will be conducted from Forrest Hill Christian Church 2 p.m. Friday with Ministers Wayne Keith and Ted Clifton officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Forrest Hill Christian Church or Snow Creek Rescue Squad. His family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the church and other times at the family home, 11573 Snow Creek Road, Rocky Mount, Virginia 24151.
