William "Bill" C. Berger

William Christian (Bill) Berger, 71, of Rocky Mount, departed this life on Thursday, August 28, 2025. He was predeceased by his parents, David Warren and Marjorie Christiansen Berger, and his brother and sister-in-law, Bruce and Anna Berger. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Alice Melinda Woody Berger, brothers-in-law Joe (Lynn) and David (Grace) Woody, nephews Jonathan (Mary) and J. W. Woody, and nieces Christina Berger, Sabrina Berger, Kelly (Justin) Leatherwood, and Sarah Woody, and grandniece and nephews Ashlyn, Gavin, and Luke.

Bill graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in forestry, and his favorite hobby was woodworking. He was a member of Beulah Baptist Church and retired from Mattern and Craig in Roanoke.

The family expresses appreciation to Dr. Daniel Krakauer, the medical staff at Carillion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, and the staff of the Good Samaritan Sheila S. Strauss Hospice House for their care and kindness to Bill during his final days.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Saturday at Flora Funeral Home in Rocky Mount. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, August 31, 2025 in the Flora Chapel led by Rev. Eric Winn, with interment following at Franklin Memorial Park.
