William Howard Holcomb

William Howard Holcomb, age 95 of Rocky Mount died Thursday, January 27, 2011. He was born October 26, 1915 a son of the late Harry Clifford (H.C.) Holcomb and Beulah Mason Holcomb. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 65 ½ years, Marie Shelton Holcomb; two sisters, infant Effie Jewel Holcomb and Mary Violet Holcomb Hunley; and one granddaughter, Rebecca Susan Holcomb. Mr. Holcomb was a member of Oak Level Baptist Church and worked at J.D. Bassett Manufacturing for 47 years. Surviving are his three children, Martha Sue (Jim) Belcher of Martinsville, David S. (Sally) Holcomb of Rocky Mount, H. Wesley (Janice) Holcomb of Bassett; eight grandchildren, Ann Marie (Yury) Orellana, David Shelton (Melina) Holcomb II, Jonathan William (Tara) Holcomb, Richard Kerr (Dana) Belcher, James Christopher Belcher, Mark Steven (Melissa) Belcher, Ginny Marie (Trevor) Divine, Melissa Dawn (Scott) Williamson; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be conducted from Franklin Memorial Park 2 p.m. Saturday with Pastor Ronald Coleman officiating. His family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. prior to the service at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
