William Robert Johnson, age 65 of Glade Hill, died Tuesday, June 3, 2008.
He was retired from Sprint Phone Company after 30 years of service. He loved racing, NASCAR, and Chevrolet automobiles.
Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his father, William Paul Johnson.
He is survived by his mother, Mattie Thurman Johnson; daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Larry Gibson, Robin and Ronnie Booth; three grandchildren, Matthew and Melissa Gibson, Dustin Booth and wife Leah; sisters, Becky and Earl Hodges, Diane and Ellis Holland.
Memorial services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 11 a.m. Thursday with Rev. David Long officiating.
The family request that memorial contributions be made to Glade Hill Baptist Church, 6627 Colonial Turnpike, Glade Hill, VA 24092 or to Redwood United Methodist Church, 3001 Old Franklin Turnpike, Rocky Mount, VA 24151.
His family will be receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Flora Funeral Service, 665 South Main Street, Rocky Mount.
