William Kingery, Sr., age 95 of Rocky Mount passed away peacefully at home Saturday, October 3, 2015. Born October 23, 1919, he is survived by his wife of 20 years, Catherine Beckner Kingery, his daughter Karen Kingery (John) Saul, son Billy (Betty) Kingery, Jr., and one brother Walter (Diane) Kingery, Jr. He is also survived by three step children, Jimmy (Janice) Beckner, Charlene (Dr. Richard) Lynch, and Tommy (Karen) Beckner. Five grandchildren: Ron (Julie) Buffington, Ros (Catherine) Kingery, III, Dr. Lettitia (Steve) Furrow, Marcie (Justin) Altice, and Julie (Ed) Lavado; seven step grandchildren: Jamey (Kelly) Beckner, Matt Beckner, Jeff Beckner, Dr. Sean (Jennifer) Lynch, Amanda (Codie) Walker, Benjamin Lynch, and Sarah Beckner. Seventeen great grandchildren: Campbell & Marley Buffington, Will & Grant Kingery, Ethan & Benjamin Furrow, Grayson & Caitlyn Altice, Millie & Esme Beckner, Gavin & Owen Beckner, Cole, Kobe & Lexi Beckner, Piper & Reade Lynch. William was preceded to Heaven by his wife of 46 years, Pauline Doss Kingery, their daughter Sharon Kay Kingery, granddaughter Lorelea Amy Buffington, parents Walter P. and Mary Hudson Kingery, Sr., brother Charles (Naomi) Kingery, sisters Adeline (Chester) Moore, Emma (Bill) Renick, and Mildred Kingery. William graduated from National Business College in 1939. He served our country in the US Navy during WW II. Soon after, his love of the land took him back to his family farm where he became a full time dairy farmer. Family and friends never worried about having enough fresh fruits and vegetables during the summer, as his garden produced abundantly for all. After his retirement and spending the winters in Florida, his return to Virginia was always based on the best time to plant potatoes! William went through this earthly life as the kindest, most gentle, compassionate individual anyone would ever want as a brother, husband, Dad, Grandpa, Uncle or friend. Even though, we feel very blessed to have him for just 20 days shy of his 96th birthday, he will be greatly missed by everyone! In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Germantown Brick Church of the Brethren, 2363 Brick Church Rd, Rocky Mount, VA 24151. Flora Funeral Service is handling arrangements. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Flora Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be 11 A.M. on Wednesday, October 7, 2015, at the Germantown Brick Church of the Brethren and followed by burial in Franklin Memorial Park.
