William “Bill” Perdue, 75, of Bartley left this world to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, September 23, 2011 in Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital in Rocky Mount, VA after a long battle with Black Lung. Born November 24, 1935 he was the son of the late John Sydney Perdue and Alice Yates Perdue. He was a retired coalminer of Island Creek Coal Co. VP1 and worked with them for 23 years. He was a life long member of the UMWA. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, William “Billy” Perdue Jr.; and a sister and brother, Joann Boyd and Robert Perdue.
Those left to cherish his memory are three daughters, Lynndora “Lynnie” Sawyers and husband Ricky of Rocky Mount, VA, Michelle Perdue Butler and husband Ron of Moneta, VA, and “Daddy’s Little Girl, Jennifer Perdue Reese of Tazewell, VA; nine grandchildren, Deven Sawyers, Trish Sawyers, Jeffrey Hatcher Jr., Dallas Hatcher, Brian Mullins, Angie Sparks, Leslie Perdue, William Perdue III, and Daniel Perdue; nine great grandchildren; three brothers, Glenwood, Perry and James Perdue; and two sisters, Elizabeth Kennedy and Florence Douglas.
Funeral service will be conducted Monday, September 26, at 12 p.m. in the Jesus Church, Bartley with the Revs.John Kibbey and Pete Woods officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Princeton.
Friends may call Sunday from 6-9 p.m. at the church.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The Douglas Funeral Home of War, West Virginia is serving the Perdue family.
