William Floyd Love, age 86, of Rocky Mount and Martinsville, Virginia, passed away on Friday February 21, 2014. Mr. Love was born on March 22, 1927, in Sydnorsville, Virginia, and was a son of the late George Cabell and Mary Brown Love.

Mr. Love was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed in Germany and Austria with the Engineer Construction Division for most of his service. Mr. Love was a talented carpenter working with his brothers, Doug Love, Carlton Love, and the late Kyle Love. Numerous homes and churches in the Martinsville/Henry County area and Smith Mountain Lake had his trademark craftsmanship. He had a love for building which showed in the quality work he displayed. Mr. Love had a passion for all sports and was an avid Washington Redskins and Los Angeles Dodgers fan. He was a great husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

Mr. Love was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Peggy Sigmon Love; brothers: Kyle Love, Harry Love, and Herbert Love; sisters: Christine Love and Edith Grey Love; and sister-in-law: Coralea Love. Mr. Love is survived by his son and daughter-in-law: Don and Patti Love of Roanoke; daughters and sons-in-law: Ann Love and Bill Barnette of Rocky Mount and Pam and Mark Hanks of Pulaski; grandsons: Keaton Hanks and Gavin Hanks of Pulaski; step-grandson and wife: Scott and Lee Markham of Roanoke; one great-grandson; Max Markham of Roanoke; special friend and loving companion for many years: Lucy Davis of Martinsville; brothers and sisters-in-law: Doug Love of Collinsville, Carlton and Linda Love of Ridgeway, and Randy and Fatena Love of Rocky Mount; sister and brother-in-law: Georgia and Bob Firebaugh of Salem; sisters-in-law: Charlotte Love of Collinsville, Ethel Love of Sontag, and Thelma Love of Stuart; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend its sincere gratitude to Emeritus at Roanoke and Good Samaritan Hospice for their excellent care of Mr. Love.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Flora Funeral Chapel with Dr. Joe Bryant officiating. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Franklin Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Peggy S. Love Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Franklin County Public Schools, 25 Bernard Road, Rocky Mount, VA 24151 or to a charity of your choice. The family also respectfully requests no food. Flora Funeral Service of Rocky Mount is in charge of arrangements.
