William Edward Masters, Jr. age 79 of Penhook died Saturday August 29, 2009. He was born in Eau Clair, Wisconsin May 12, 1930 a son of the late William and Frieda Masters, Sr. His youth was spent in New Mexico and Richland, WA as his father helped build ROUTE 66. Mr. Masters was a decorated US Air Force veteran of the Korean War, a member of the Benton City, WA Masonic Lodge and a retired Nuclear Mechanical Engineer Level 3.
Surviving are his wife, Gail; daughters, Frieda Masters of Boones Mill and Karen Akers of Washington; sons, William (Billy) Edward Masters, III of Penhook and Jon Masters of Washington; grandchildren, Brenna and Connor Akers; brother, Walter Masters; sister, Madeline Masters Huston; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorial services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 2:00 pm Wednesday September 2, 2009 with Rev. Judith Short officiating. The family suggest memorials be made to Penhook United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 215, Penhook,Va. 24137.
