William Ashworth Mcghee

William Ashworth McGhee, age 92 of Rocky Mount died Saturday, January 4, 2014. He was born February 11, 1921 and was preceded in death by his mother, Estelle Mullins McGhee Coleman; father, Norman Eckeriel McGhee; and brothers, R.G. McGhee, Norman "Slick" McGhee, Dudley "Bud" McGhee. Mr. McGhee retired as a long distance truck driver with 50 years of service. He was also a three year United States Army Veteran of World War II serving in the Philippines. Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Frances Tyree McGhee; daughters and son-in-law, Judy McGhee, Regina Davis and husband Dave; granddaughter, Carly Burke and husband Sean; great-granddaughter, Madison Burke; sister, Mary Shively; special sister-in-law, Lucy Prillaman; and special family friends, Bonnie Smith, Elsie Harrison, Betty Hubbard, Shelby Winstead and the staff of Trinity Mission. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 2 p.m. Monday with Pastor Michael Stump officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Doe Run Christian Church, 3536 Doe Run Road, Rocky Mount, Va. 24151. His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
