William M. Parcell

William M. Parcell, age 96 of Rocky Mount died peacefully on Friday, April 27, 2018. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Margaret Davis Parcell; son, Reid Parcell; parents, Carson and Annie Scott Parcell; four sisters, Cora, Anne, Margaret and Hazel; two infant sisters; and brother, Carson. Mr. Parcell began working for his father-in-law, W.D. Davis (Davis Heating and Air Conditioning) and eventually purchased the business with longtime friend J.R. Buckner. He was a United States Army Veteran of World War II, participating in the Battle of the Bulge and received the Purple Heart. He was a member of the American Legion for over 70 years and Assistant Scout Master with Troop #30. Mr. Parcell was also a member and Elder at Rocky Mount Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Surviving are his sons and daughters-in-law, David and Sharon Parcell, William, Jr. and Emma Parcell, Ben and Flo Parcell, and Bob and Liz Parcell; grandchildren, Kay Parcell Hoff and Chris, Jill Parcell, Elizabeth Parcell Sharp and Nathan, William Ry Parcell and Katherine, Carson Parcell, Lee Ellen Parcell, Annie Parcell, Margaret Parcell Bisnett and James, and Bradley Parcell; great-grandchildren, Christiana Hoff, Delaney Hoff, Ethan Hoff, Emma Sharp, Pheobe Sharp, Harper Parcell and Rafe Parcell; brother, John Parcell and Judy; sister-in-law, Mary Boone; brothers-in-law, Henry Fralin, Jimmy Davis and Donna; and numerous nieces and nephews. He adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Rocky Mount Christian Church, 120 South Main Street, Rocky Mount, Virginia 24151. Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Monday at the Parcell Family Cemetery followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. at Rocky Mount Christian Church with Rev. Matthew Ricks officiating.
