William Hamilton Parcell, Jr. “Billy” age 81 of Rocky Mount died Tuesday, March 8, 2005 at his residence following a five year battle with Multiple Myeloma.
He retired from Rocky Mount Post Office as a Rural Letter Carrier and following retirement he was an employee of Flora Funeral Service. He supported the American Red Cross as a faithful blood donor having donated over 19 gallons. He was a member of Beulah Baptist Church, Sontag Community Club and the former Sontag Ruritan Club.
He was born August 16, 1923, a son of the late Willie H. and Eva English Parcell. He is survived by his loving spouse of 59 years, Anne P. Parcell; daughter, Joyce P. Greene and husband, Arthur T. Greene, Jr.; his son, William Hamilton Parcell III “Buddy” and wife, Sylvia; 5 grandchildren, Arthur T. Greene III and wife, Jessica, Wallace Parcell Greene, Coranna Morgan Greene, Hanna Elizabeth Parcell and William Hamilton Parcell IV “Will”; sisters, Julia P. Kelly and Ruth P. Gills; brothers, Bobby Parcell and wife, Lillian, C. Noell Parcell and wife, Peggy; many dear nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 11:00 a.m. Friday with Rev. Thomas C. Siddle officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Virginia Baptist Children’s Home and Family Services P.O. Box 849, Salem, VA 24153, Carilion Hospice of Franklin County, 180 Floyd Avenue, Rocky Mount, VA 24151 or charity of one’s choice.
Friends may call after 3 p.m. Thursday with the family receiving friends from 6 – 8 p.m. at Flora Funeral Service, 665 South Main Street, Rocky Mount.
