William Sherman Truman, age 84 of Wirtz, Virginia passed away Thursday, September 1, 2016. He was retired from Vinton Weaving Mill after 42 years of service. His life was God, his family and farming. Sherman was a good husband, father, and papa. He was someone who never met a stranger and always reached out to everyone. He was a devout Christian who’s faith was constant, and he was a member of Wirtz Assembly of God Church. Sherman was preceded in death by his son, David Sherman Truman; parents, Albert and Ellen Truman; brother, Eldridge Truman; sister, Kathleen St Clair, special nephew (as a brother) Sonny Obenchain. Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Nadene S. Truman; daughter and son-in-law, Shelia and Wayne Angle, daughter-in-law, Tammi English (Henry), grandsons, Matthew Angle, Brian Angle (Lisa), Zack Truman, great-granddaughter, Claire Angle (Pappa’s little girl), sister, Joyce Ann Waid (Curtis) The family would like especially thank caregivers: Rachel, Julie, Linda J., Emily, Linda P., Bonnie and Betty as well as Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospice Services for their dedicated care and concern. Funeral services will be conducted at Flora Chapel 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 4, 2016 with Pastor Denver Turner and Pastor Bruce Huffman officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. His family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Flora Funeral Service.
