William “Bill” Denham Tucker, 77 of Smith Mountain Lake, Va, former resident of Woodbridge, Virginia, passed away peacefully at home on August 3, 2016 surrounded by his loving family after a brief battle with cancer.
  
  Bill is survived by his devoted wife and best friend of 49 years, Fran Danysh, sons Denham, of Fredericksburg, Va., Kevin (Nora) of Riner, Va. and Denham Jordan (Smith Mountain Lake) who was more of a son than a grandson and their furry companion Daisy. He enjoyed days spent with his grandchildren, Ava Grayce, Jillian and Zac. Also surviving his brother Joel (Marty) Florida and sister Sharon Sittig (Bob) Illinois. Bill has many nieces, nephews and friends whom he also adored.
  
  He is preceded in death by his parents Joel and Doris and his brother Wayne.Born in Metuchen, NJ and raised in Madison, NJ, Bill spent his life working with people and loving everything he did. His career started with the United States Air Force where he served four years of active duty and two years in the reserves. Then began his life long career in retail. Bill worked as a Manager/District Manager for Woolworth’s for 14 years. His job took him and his family across the United States from NY to CT where he was blessed with two sons, Denham and Kevin. Shortly after their births they moved to Massachusetts, Puerto Rico, Texas and finally ended in Louisiana. At the closing of Woolworth’s, Bill opened his own Transmission shop in Slidell, LA for 4 years. Next, Bill took on being the General Manager of Michael’s Arts and Craft Store, which carried them from coast to coast. He retired in 2004 from his store in Woodbridge, Va. During all of his time in retail, Bill received high accolades from his superiors for his store sales and performance. Throughout his career Bill developed friendships that have continued thru his life.
  
  Retirement brought Bill & Fran to Smith Mountain Lake Va. where he spent time on his boat, in the pool with his grandchildren or repairing wheelchairs.
  
  Bill’s wit and sense of humor will be missed by all of those who knew and loved him.
  
  His family will never look at a tube of Super Glue or a Hot Glue Gun and not think of Bill and his many uses for these items. Now this dedicated family man will be able to rest and enjoy eternal peace.
  
  Memorial service will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Saturday August 6, 2016 at Flora Funeral Chapel, with Chaplain Rick Poland officiating. His family will receive friends 2 hours prior to service. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
