Listen to Obituary

William Monteller Tyree, 72, of Rocky Mount, VA, went home to the lord on May 11, 2022. William was a loving, caring, and hardworking man. William was a strong man with a mind of his own. Once his mind and heart was set on something, nobody was changing it. He was the true meaning of a leader. William had a love for cars and could fix anything he felt needed to be fixed. William also had a big love for playing the lottery and had his plans picked out when he hit the jackpot. But he’s hit the biggest jackpot of them all. He could turn anyone’s frown into a smile and could have your stomach hurting from laughing so much. He was a true GOAT of the family and was there whenever anyone needed him. William had hands of steel but also had a heart of gold. He had a strong amount of love for everyone, especially his nephew Jay Ferguson. William has run across a lot of people in his life that he has appreciated and they have also appreciated him. He was a very independent man, but in his time of need, he spent a lot of his time with, David Campbell and let him know plenty of times he was appreciated. William a strong imprint on the earth. He will truly be missed and never forgotten. He was preceded in death by his parents; Bertha Wade, Allen Tyree; son, Sean Tyree; brothers, June Tyree, Anthony Wade, and Donald Dudley. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Lesly Perdue, Michael  (Michelle) Tyree, Rhonda Trotter, and Darryl Belcher; sisters, Nancy (James) Ferguson, and Alesia (Danny)  Anderson; brother, Harry (Florence) Wade; Aunt, Nannie Stanley; Uncle, Billy Tyree;  grandchildren, Jessica Holland, Brittany Perdue, Wy’Niyah Tyree, Sean Michael Tyree, Kiaundra Trotter, Kyle Trotter, and Tyschana Turnage; great-grandchildren, Kaycen Redd, Gabriel Brown, Kiaunii Brown, Kaiden Trotter, and Karmyn Trotter; Special cousins, Duane Kasey.

Funeral services will be conducted at Flora Funeral Chapel, 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2022. Interment will follow at the Tyree Family Cemetery (Ashpone Tavern Road). His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
