William Simon Wuergler, age 85 of Moneta, went to be with the Lord on July 7, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents Ray William Wuergler and Hazel Robertson Wuergler; sisters Edith Wuergler Dylan and Thelma Wuergler Maxey. He was born on November 7, 1932, he remained near his homeplace and farmed his land. He married the love of his life, Nancy Hurt Wuergler on June 9, 1951. They raised three children together, Joy Wuergler Hurt, (Robert), Barry William Wuergler (Peggy) and Leticia (Lee) Faith Wuergler Colls (Greg Johnson). He was blessed with three grandchildren, Bryce Sigmon Wuergler (Anjeli), Jessica Blair Colls (Robby Smith), Alli-Rae Colls (Fiancé Luke Summers); two step-grandchildren, Keith (Kipp) Colls (Andrea), Kaitlin Colls Wickham (Daniel); great-granddaughter Cora Grace Wuergler; two step great- granddaughters, Emma and Avery Wickham ; C. Ferris Maxey as a friend and brother- in- law; nephews, Dr. Garrett Hurt (Donna), G. Todd Maxey (Brenda Fitchner)and Donna Hurt Updike (Donald). He was a member of Halesford Baptist Church for 55 years where he served as a Deacon for 31 years and met his special pew buddy Kathy Altizer. Special thanks to Medi Hospice, his wonderful caregivers and Dr. Robert Keeley. Funeral services will be held at Halesford Baptist Church, 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, 2018, officiated by Melvin Harris, his Pastor and friend for 48 years and Johnny Thompson, his new friend that kept his foot tapping. His family will receive friends at the Halesford Baptist Church Monday from 5-8 p.m. Interment at the church cemetery under a beautiful oak tree, followed by a memorial meal provided by the good ladies of the church. The family requests no flowers please, rather donations be made to Halesford Choir, 2485 Lost Mountain Road, Wirtz, Va 24184.
