Willie "Guy" Jones

Willie “Guy” Jones, age 105 formerly of Wirtz, Va. died peacefully on Saturday, November 17, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. He was a member of Mount Ivy Christian Church. He was born December 21, 1906 in the Scruggs area of Franklin County, a son of the late William Jones and Vaughnie McBride Jones. He was a resident of Trinity Mission Health & Rehab, Rocky Mount, Va. where he was attended by a special caregiver Marsha Tyree. He was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Holland Jones, four daughters Elsie Lorene Jones, Martha Jewel Jones, Hazel Taylor and Barbara G. Jones; one son Charles Joseph Jones; a granddaughter, Frances Lawerence; a sister, Clara Belle Jones Brown; four brothers, Lorenza, Nelson, Ray and Gordo Jones; two sons-in-law, Virgil Taylor and James W. Zeigler. He is survived by 5 children, James O. Jones (Marilyn), of Lynchburg, Brady Wilford Jones, Fieldale, Joyce Zeigler, Winston J. “Pete” Jones (Linda), all of Glade Hill, Larry Wayne Jones (Linda), Boones Mill, one brother, Ford Jones (Louise), Scruggs, one sister, Flossie Ayers, Huddleston, many nieces and nephews, sixteen grandchildren, a number of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Ivy Christian Church with Minister Steve Pasley officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. His family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Church. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount/Smith Mountain Lake.
