Winfred Durward Thompson

Winfred Durward Thompson, age 86 of Rocky Mount died Sunday, July 4, 2010. He was born September 22, 1923 a son of the late Oliver and Ada Mae Thomas Thompson. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean LaPrade Thompson; sister, Eloise Thompson Bowman; and brother, Oliver Thompson, Jr. Surviving are his daughter, Rita Thompson Donahue and husband Ronald; grandchildren, Kimberly Jeanette Donahue and Sarah Mae Donahue; sister, Louise Thompson; many cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted from Antioch Church of the Brethren 11 a.m. Wednesday with Rev. Leah Harness officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Special thanks to all his caregivers who stayed with him and also to Franklin Health and Rehab for all the love, support and care. Memorial donations may be made to Antioch Church of the Brethren, 2996 Callaway Road, Rocky Mount, Virginia 24151. His family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Flora Funeral & Cremation Service, Rocky Mount.
