Winifred “Winkie” Hodges, 86, of Vinton, died on Saturday, November 8, 2008.
Born in Penhook, Winkie worked as a legal secretary, had a passion for music and the piano, and loved singing with the Roanoke “Sweet Adelines”.
She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Lessie Hodges; brothers Paul, Emerson, and Dennis Hodges; sisters Mary Law and Neva Dudley; nephews Buddy and Joseph Law; and a niece, Theresa Johnson.
Surviving are her nephew, Lloyd Hodges; and nieces Judy Sweers, Paige Brandenburg, Betty Ann Buckner, and Agnes Sutton.
Graveside services will be conducted from Franklin Memorial Park 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 11, 2008 with Mr. Rob Shorter officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Roanoke Chapter of the Sweet Adelines, St. Elias Catholic Church, 4730 Cove Rd. NW Roanoke, VA 24017-1137.
There will be no visitation.
