Listen to Obituary
Yolanda "Landy" Ciriano, 97, of Wirtz, Virginia, and formerly of Brooklyn New York and Sterling, Virginia, completed her life?s journey and passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home while surrounded by family on July 27th. Landy was born as the youngest of seven children of Joseph and Augusta Pancila on March 5, 1917. She was married in 1940 to her husband Johnny with which she had two children. Following Johnny?s passing, she remarried to Joe Ciriano of Brooklyn New York in 1967. Her spirit was strong enough to overcome the passing of her youngest son, Robert and her husband Joe in the early 1990?s. She moved from New York to Sterling, Virginia to be close to her son John and his family. While in Sterling, Landy was very active in the Cascades Senior center and a member of Christ the Redeemer Church. She left many friends in Sterling when she moved to Smith Mountain Lake in Wirtz, VA with John and his wife Kim in 2008. Landy found a new home in Wirtz and became a member of the Resurrection Catholic Church of Moneta, Virginia, where she was active in the church?s Wednesday Women?s Group (WWG) and the Newcomer?s Club of Moneta. She enjoyed her time and new friends in the Smith Mountain Lake area and was thankful for their generosity and friendship over the last few years. She mentioned often and to the end that they made her feel like family. From her first family she is survived by her son John Puterio and his wife Kim Puterio of Wirtz, Virginia; as well as her twin grandsons, Robert & John Puterio, their wives Roshni and Rebecca and four great-grandchildren, all from Northern Virginia. From her second family she is survived by her husband Joseph?s sons Joseph and Anthony Ciriano and their wives Marion and Linda from North Carolina; Joseph?s children- Joey, Linda and Steven; Linda?s husband Tom and Steven?s wife Julie and nine great-grandchildren; Anthony?s children Steven and Anthony and four more great-grandchildren for a total of 17 wonderful great grandchildren! Joseph?s daughter Estelle Ciriano pre-deceased Landy in death. Her life was blessed by many other people in the last century, as we were all left better and blessed by Landy. Visitation Services will take place on Wednesday July 30th from 6-8pm at Resurrection Catholic Church, 15353 Moneta Road in Moneta Virginia, with a funeral Mass and reception the following morning at 11am. www.resurrectioncatholic.org In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to The Wednesday Women?s Group (WWG) of Resurrection Catholic Church so that they may continue their charitable work, at the above address. Checks should be made out to the church. Please write WWG- Landy on the memo line. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
