Zemula Moorefield Pickeral

Zemula Moorefield Pickeral, 80, of Rocky Mount, died Friday, December 25, 2015. She was born on May 8, 1935, the daughter of the late Filmore and Elsie Moorefield. Surviving are her loving husband of 60 years, Billy Giles Pickeral; her son and daughter in law, Gary and Pam Pickeral; her daughter, Lisa Pickeral Chitwood; her grandchildren, Kristen, Lauren (Matt); Kara (Yates); Alexandra, and William (Lindsey); sisters, Ida, Joyce, and Betty; brother, Charles; numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends. In addition to her parents, Zem was preceded in her death by four brothers; Harvey, George, Chester Lee, and Tony. Zem graduated from Halifax County High School and attended Averett College. She and Billy were charter members at Franklin Heights Baptist Church. Zem was an active member and was a strong christian who loved helping others. Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Sunday, December 27, 2015 at Franklin Heights Baptist Church with Rev. J. Larry Holland officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends beginning at 1:30 p.m. prior to the service. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
