Mark William Metz

Our beloved father, son, and pops, Mark William Metz, passed October 10 ^th , 2020 sleeping peacefully in the arms of his children and parents at the age of 58 years old. Left to Cherish his memories are his Father and Mother – Johnnie and Mary Ann Metz, Son – Javin Metz, Daughter – India Davidson (Matt Davidson), Grandsons – Lucas and Liam Davidson, Sister - Susan Bane (Jim Bane), and former Wife of 35 years – Donna Metz. He will also be remembered by so many other friends and family.

Dad was one of the strongest people we ever had the pleasure of knowing and he showed us that by his unwavering faith in the Lord. He often told his children how he prayed for us every day. We loved him so very much and he loved us even more than that. He will always be our father, son, mentor, and coach.

Everyone knows that, after his family, his second love and passion was baseball. After graduating from Franklin County High School in 1980, dad then went on to play collegiate baseball at Old Dominion University for 4 years. After that, dad played in the summer Cape Code League in Massachusetts, and was drafted in 1984 by the Seattle Mariners.

After dad’s baseball days were over and his two children came along, he started coaching. That is what always made him the happiest. He coached many kids throughout the years who loved him as their own, just as he loved them. Dad was a genius on the ball field and the best coach and role model to so many. We wish you were still here rocking your ray bands, stealing signs, ragging the umps, and sitting on your bucket telling the boys “think middle-in and stay back on the off-speed”. We love you Pops and will see you soon.

The visitation will be held at Flora Chapel 2-3 pm and then the memorial service to follow at 3:00 pm this Saturday, October 17 ^th , 2020.
