Nora Taylor Mason, 93, died peacefully in her home on December 5, 2018. She is survived by her children: Ramona (Mike) Coveny and family, Ronald (Deborah) Mason and family, Lenora Washburn and family, Leonard (Patricia) Mason, Jr. and family; her brother, Gene (Eloise) Taylor and family; her brother-in-law, Terry (Ruby) Mason and family and her long-time friends from Radford, Clara Oakley and Nina Weiss. She is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Leonard G. Mason, Sr., her sister, Mary Elizabeth Taylor and her father and mother, Jessee Herbert “Hub” and Virginia Love Taylor. Nora lived her young life on Briar Mountain. She fell in love and married her husband Leonard in 1943. She worked as a waitress and secretary during WWII and while Leonard attended college on the GI bill. She was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1941 and was a faithful servant to Jehovah for the rest of her life. Beginning their family in the early fifties, Nora and Leonard made their home in Radford’s suburbs where Nora was known as a loving wife, mother and excellent hostess. Clifton Forge was the next stop in her family’s life where she was active in the local Kingdom Hall and raised her family. Upon retirement, Nora and Leonard moved back to Briar Mountain spending their time building a home, gardening, traveling and welcoming a host of friends and relatives. Nora is remembered for her generous spirit and radiant smile by all who loved her. Family visitation will be on Saturday, December 15 at 1:00 p.m. at Flora Funeral Home in Rocky Mount, Virginia with the memorial service following at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to your local Kingdom Hall or favorite charity.
