Peggy Lee Rakes

Peggy Lee Rakes, age 82 of Rocky Mount died Sunday, August 24, 2025. She was born July 20, 1943 and was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Annie Dowdy; brother, Jerry Dowdy and a nephew, Ian. Surviving are her husband, Thomas Rakes; daughters, Charlotte Sloan (Roger), Tina Rakes, Angie Rakes (Bill); grandchildren, Brittany Barnhart (Daniel), April Haulsey (Jimmy), Randal Stump, Matt Meadows (Nellie), Ariel Meadows (Aaron), Jon Meadows, Amber Worrell (William); great-grandchildren, Leah, Michael, Rylan, Trenton, Andy, Zander, Khloe, Konner, Karson, Aria and Hannah; and sister, Joyce Taylor (Reg), along with one niece and a great-nephew. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 27, 2025 with Pastor Larry Bralley officiating. Interment will be private in the Ferguson-Rakes Family Cemetery. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
